About The Polytechnic
The Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic Unwana came into being in 1981 with Engr. Dr. O.B Epelle as the Pioneer Rector. It was established by the Federal Government of Nigeria to help serve the growing needs of our country in her efforts to be self-sufficient in technological education.
Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Unwana is located in Unwana city, Ebonyi State, Nigeria. The polytechnic was founded in 1981 and is owned by the federal government. It is named after Akanu Ibiam, the First Republic Governor of Eastern Region, Nigeria. The school was initially located on the present site of Federal Government College Okposi, and moved to its site in Unwana in 1987. There are five schools that offer programs leading to National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) in sciences, engineering, and humanities.
In October 2003 the polytechnic was designated a center for excellence in the southeast by the Nigeria Board for Polytechnic Education due to its excellent administration and the quality of its courses.[3] On 16 September 2008 the school had to be temporarily closed after a violent protest that caused considerable property damage triggered by the murder of an elderly woman at the school.[4] In October 2008 the Polytechnic was selected for establishment of a world class Information and Communication Technology center by the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).[5] In November 2009 a new library was being constructed.
WHAT IS AGGREGATE SCORE
That means the candidate must get at least 50 Questions Correctly. The aggregate score will be used to determine the cut-off point for admission into each of the programmes. Cut-off points for each course will be determined by the performance of all the candidates who applied for the course.
WHAT IS POST UTME SCORE
After every UTME exercise, a particular mark is set out by the exam body {e.g 120}. This mark is a score a candidate must have or cross, to qualify him or her to sit for the chosen school’s POST UTME exercise. This said mark is announced to all school’s to enable them decide the number of candidates they will admit.
After the school’s decision, they announce a particular mark which must not be lower than the mark the UTME body fixed. Any candidate who cross the mark set by the UTME body and did not reach the chosen school’s mark, is NEVER eligible to sit for the school’s POST UTME.
This mark or score set by the school admission board is known as SCHOOL’S CUT OFF MARK..
