International Excellence Scholarship
The University of Waikato offers an excellent opportunity for Chinese students to apply for the New Zealand Vice Chancellor’s International Excellence Scholarship Program. This program is available for the 2023-2024 academic year.
This scholarship is intended to promote educational opportunities and support outstanding students from China embarking on university undergraduate, graduate (teaching), and graduate (research) programs.

Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded to an Undergraduate, Postgraduate (Taught), or Postgraduate (Research) in any subject offered by the university.
Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following/given criteria:
Candidates must be a citizen or permanent residents of China.
They are applying to enroll full-time in an undergraduate or postgraduate program as a new international student at the University of Waikato.
They have received a conditional or unconditional offer of place from the University of Waikato (including a pathway offer for a degree packaged with the Certificate of Attainment in the English Language; the Certificate of Attainment in Foundation Studies; Certificate of University Preparation; International Diploma (Business); International Diploma (Computer Science) or Diploma of Postgraduate Preparation (Pre-Masters)) at the University of Waikato).
They have a minimum GPA-equivalency of B+ in the qualification used to gain entrance to the University of Waikato.
Not currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at the University of Waikato and not paying tuition fees at the time of application.
You are not admitted to the University of Waikato through a sponsoring organization.
You are not admitted to the University of Waikato through a Credit Guarantee Agreement or a Study Abroad or Student Exchange Agreement.
How to Apply for China Excellence Scholarship
How to Apply: students can register on the university portal and submit the admission letter. All qualified candidates will be automatically considered.
Evidence: Students are required to submit the following documents to the University:

- Personal Essay
- Research Plan
- Copy of Official Course Certificate
Admission Requirements : Applicant must meet course-specific access requirements
Language Requirements: Students must meet the university’s English language requirements. TOEFL, IELTS, PTE, and many other tests are accepted at the University of Waikato.
China Excellence Scholarship Benefits
Selected candidates will receive scholarships of up to NZ$15,000 for successful applicants with excellent academic performance.
