Osun State University-UNIOSUN Cut Off Marks & How To Calculate Their Aggregate Score

We have come to know that many students find it really difficult to calculate their aggregate score and their cut off mark and it really isn’t their fault as calculating cut off marks varies for different institutions.

On this note, we have made it easy for you by giving you step by step procedure on how to calculate Osun State University (UNIOSUN)  aggregate score, but before this, we are going to tell you what aggregate and Post UTME Score means and what things are to be considered before calculating the aggregate score.

WHAT IS AGGREGATE SCORE

That means the candidate must get at least 50 Questions Correctly. The aggregate score will be used to determine the cut-off point for admission into each of the programmes. Cut-off points for each course will be determined by the performance of all the candidates who applied for the course.

WHAT IS POST UTME SCORE 

After every UTME exercise, a particular mark is set out by the exam body {e.g 120}. This mark is a score a candidate must have or cross, to qualify him or her to sit for the chosen school’s POST UTME exercise. This said mark is announced to all school’s to enable them decide the number of candidates they will admit.
After the school’s decision, they announce a particular mark which must not be lower than the mark the UTME body fixed. Any candidate who cross the mark set by the UTME body and did not reach the chosen school’s mark, is NEVER eligible to sit for the school’s POST UTME.
This mark or score set by the school admission board is known as SCHOOL’S CUT OFF MARK..

How To Calculate UNIOSUN Post UTME Aggregate Score

For example, in order to calculate your UNIOSUN Post UTME aggregate score, the formula purportedly adopted by the institution is the summing up of your UTME (JAMB) SCORE divided by 8 and your POST UTME SCORE divided by Your Jamb score is allocated 50%, Your O’level is 20% and your post-ume is 30%.

1. Considering JAMB Score:

Maximum score under JAMB is 400.To prorate to 50% your Jamb score will be divided by 8 (400/50

2. Considering O’level (WAEC, NECO, GCE or NABTEB):

O level is calculated using the 5 core subjects(core to the course you wish to study as decided by the University) as follows:

• A1 – 6 points
• B2 – 5 points
• B3 – 4 points
• C4 – 3 points
• C5 – 2 points
• C6 – 1 points

And maximum is 30 points. The total points is then prorated to 20 through multiplication by 2/3.

3. Considering POST-UTME:

Here is the score many candidates seem to find rather confusing. Some complain of having a higher score in the POST-UTME than university cut-off points without being admitted. But what they must understand is that even if they score 100% in that exam it amounts only to 30% of the cut-off point. So their Post -Utme score is usually prorated to 30 marks using 0.3 as the multiplier

Example: If a candidate had 202 in Jamb and his O level goes Like this: Maths-B3, Chemistry-C4, Biology- B2, English- C5, Physics-C6, Economic-B3, Geography-A1 and had 58% in the post utme. The he can calculate his composite, by following the format below:

Jamb score divided by 8 i.e 202/8=25.25

For the O level, only 5 subjects (math, English, chemistry, biology, and physics) are needed. There he has Math – B3 – 4 points, English – C5 – 2 point,Chemistry – C4 – 3 points,Biology – B2 – 5 points, Physics – C6 – 1 point Total gross points for O level= 4+2+3+5+1=15.  This score is then multiplied by 2/3 i.e 15 x 2/3=10. His post utme score is allocated 30% and is multiplied by

0.3. i.e 58 x 0.3=17.4

Therefore, the candidates’ composite is the sum of these 3 scores i.e Jamb+O’level+post utme. That is 25.25+10+17.4=5 2.65 Hence, the candidate’s composite is 52.65.

Now note the 5-point gap between the composite total and what he scored in the post-utme. That 5-point gap may result in not being granted admission! Okay?

Pls NOTE that 100% used above may be equivalent to 100,200 or 400 marks in different universities

To correctly calculate your aggregate, know that the JAMB Examination is made up of 400 marks, whereas the UNIOSUN Post UTME is made 100 marks.

1. Divide your JAMB score by 8,
2. Divide your Post UTME score by  2,
3. Add up the result.

This is how to calculate yours

If Tina scored 240 in her JAMB and 80 in her Post UTME, then her Aggregate score can be gotten by following these steps.

240/8= 30

80/2= 40

40+ 30= 70

Tina’s aggregate score is 70

UNIOSUN Nature of Admission Screening

The Osun State University holds her admission screening exercises within a week or couple of weeks and it usually comes in two phases. Students who applied to study in the school are to proceed for the pre-screening exercise when once it is being announced.

Documents required for the pre-screening exercise are: SSCE result and JAMB registration print out only.

It is often important that a candidate arrive early and locate his/her screening venue early. Candidates will be screen on the JAMB scores and their SSCE result.

The second phase of the screening is after the admission lists might have been released. Candidates who have merited the admission will be invited for another screening exercise. Here all documents such as;

• Original copies of their educational qualifications (Statements of Results/Certificates).
  N/B: Cases of awaiting results will NOT be accepted.
• Birth Certification/Age Declaration.
• A letter of good conduct from your Village Head or a responsible member of your
  community/or civil servant not below Grade Level 10 or equivalent in the private sector.
• Certificate of Local Government of origin; and this notification of admission status
  slip.
